Rudi Studer is Full Professor in Applied Informatics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Institute AIFB. In addition, he is director at the Karlsruhe Service Research Institute (KSRI) as well as at the FZI Research Center for Information Technology. His research interests include knowledge management, Semantic Web technologies and applications, data and text mining, Big Data and Service Science.

He obtained a Diploma in Computer Science at the University of Stuttgart in 1975. In 1982 he was awarded a Doctor's degree in Mathematics and Informatics at the University of Stuttgart, and in 1985 he obtained his Habilitation in Informatics at the University of Stuttgart. From 1985 to 1989 he was project leader and manager at the Scientific Center of IBM Germany.

Curriculum Vitae

Rudi Studer ist Professor am Institut für Angewandte Informatik und Formale Beschreibungsverfahren (AIFB) am KIT. Er ist zudem Direktor am Karlsruhe Service Research Institut (KSRI) und am FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik am KIT. Seine Forschungsinteressen umfassen Wissensmanagement, Semantic Web Technologien und Anwendungen, Data and Text Mining, Big Data und Service Science.

Sein Informatik-Diplom erhielt er 1975 an der Universität Stuttgart. 1982 promovierte und 1985 habilitierte er an der Universität in Stuttgart. 1985 bis 1989 war er Projektleiter und Manager am wissenschaftlichen Zentrum von IBM Deutschland.

Er ist an zahlreichen nationalen und internationalen Forschungsprojekten beteiligt, unter anderem am Software-Cluster des BMBF-Spitzencluster-Programms und an den EU-Projekten PlanetData (Network of Excellence on Large-Scale Data Management), XLike (crossLingual Knowledge Extraction) und XLime (crossLingual crossMedia Knowledge Extraction).

Rudi Studer war Gründungspräsident der Semantic Web Science Association und Editor-in-chief des Journal of Web Semantics: Science, Services and Agents on the World Wide Web. Er ist STI International Fellow.
