Cloud services became famous for their pay-per-use pricing idea: you only pay for the IT resources you really use, such as the amount of CPU usage, data storage in TB, or user licenses.

But is pay-per-use really applied in practice? What pricing models are typically used when offering cloud services? What can customers expect and should they be careful of not being fooled by the idea of pay-per-use? These and related questions are important to get a truthful picture on cloud pricing models. The objective of this thesis is to identify and compare pricing models used for cloud services. You conduct a literature review, interview cloud providers, do a survey–whatever you like. I will guide you through the process.
