Prof. Sure-Vetter obtained a Diploma in industrial engineering at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) in 1999. York Sure-Vetter ist Universitätsprofessor am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), Institut für Angewandte Informatik und Formale Beschreibungsverfahren (AIFB). Seine Forschungsinteressen umfassen Web Science, Semantic Web, Linked Data, Data and Text Mining und Service Science.
Prof. Sure-Vetter erhielt 1999 sein Diplom als Wirtschafts-Ingenieur von der Universität Karlsruhe (TH). 2003 promovierte er zum Thema Ontologien und Wissensmanagement an der Universität Karlsruhe (TH). 2007 bis 2009 war er als Senior Researcher bei SAP AG. 2009 bis 2015 war Prof. Sure-Vetter Präsident von GESIS – Leibniz-Institut für Sozialwissenschaften. Er führte das Leibniz-Institut GESIS erfolgreich durch eine Leibniz-Evaluation sowie zwei Audits. Durch gemeinsame Berufungsverfahren nach dem Jülicher Modell hatte Sure-Vetter während dieser Zeit Professuren an der Universität Koblenz-Landau und der Universität Mannheim. In 2015 folgte Prof. Sure-Vetter einem Ruf auf eine Professur an das Institut AIFB des KIT. Seit Oktober 2015 ist Sure-Vetter Direktor am Karlsruhe Service Research Institute (KSRI) des KIT.
Prof. Sure-Vetter war Gastprofessor an der Universität Mannheim und der Stanford University. Er wurde mit verschiedenen Forschungs- und Lehrpreisen ausgezeichnet, darunter der IBM UIMA Innovation Award, der Wolfgang-Heilmann Preis der Integrata Stiftung und mehrfach der HECTOR Teaching Award.
