Module and courses changes for the WS19/20

For the winter semester 2019/2020, the following changes to the modules and courses of the Institute AIFB will take effect:

  • All courses (including labs) will be assessed uniformly with 4.5 credit points in all study programmes. Exceptions are seminars as well as the courses "Introduction to Programming with Java ", "Foundations of Informatics I" and "Foundations of Informatics II". In the Bachelor's degree programmes in Information Engineering and Management / Information Systems , the two courses "Applied Informatics – Modelling" (formerly "Applied Informatics 1") and "Applied Informatics – Principles of Internet Computing: Foundations for Emerging Technologies and Future Services" (formerly "Applied Computer Science 2") continue to be weighted with 4 credit points.
  • In the future, it will also be possible to complete labs in the Bachelor's programmes in Industrial Engineering and Management (WING) and Economics Engineering (TVWL).
  • In the WING/TVWL Bachelor's programmes, the compulsory module "Emphasis Informatics" will be renamed "Applied Informatics".
  • All courses included in the supplementary offer of this module will in future bear the suffix "Applied Informatics" (e.g. "Applied Informatics - Software Engineering").

Students who have already started a module with AIFB components with an examination registration will remain in the existing module version and receive the credit points that were valid at the time the module began. A change to the current module version is possible if, for example, an lab is to be completed that is not included in the old version. A version change must be requested via the corresponding online form.

Students who start a new module with AIFB courses automatically receive the current module version with the new regulations.

Should problems arise as a result of the new regulations (especially in the case of subsequent changes between modules and module versions), please contact the Examination Office of the KIT Department of Economics and Management.

The Bachelor module M-WIWI-101438 "Semantic Knowledge Management" (Information Systems) will be reduced from 10 to 9 credit points in the winter semester 2019/2020. Students who would like to start this module in the winter semester 2019/2020 can change to the old module version in justified cases. Please contact André Wiesner during the registration period.

Please also note that the examinations "Enterprise Architecture Management" and "Strategic Management of Information Technology" for first writers will be offered for the last time in the winter semester 2019/2020. A last examination possibility exists in the summer semester 2020 (only for repeaters).
