In unserem neu erschienenen AIFB-Themenheft 2026 „Menschzentrierte Informatikforschung“ finden Sie aktuelle Informationen, Zahlen und Fakten aus dem Institut AIFB sowie die Einladung des Vereins Angewandte Informatik Karlsruhe e. V. zum 41. AIK-Symposium. Es steht unter dem gleichen Titel und findet am 6. November 2026 statt.

Bei der IEEE IV 2025 in Rumänien war unsere Forschungsgruppe mit 13 akzeptierten Paper vertreten. Außerdem gewann Ahmed Abouelazm den Best Paper Award mit seinem Beitrag "TPK: Trustworthy Trajectory Prediction Integrating Prior Knowledge For Interpretability and Kinematic Feasibility".

Am 1. März 2024 empfing das KIT-Zentrum für Mobilitätssysteme sowie das Energy Lab am Campus Nord Besuch von Dr. Volker Wissing, dem Bundesminister für Digitales und Verkehr, sowie den Bundestagsabgeordneten Michael Theurer und Parsa Marvi.

Am Tag der offenen Tür und beim Campustag am KIT haben wir unsere Forschungsgruppe zahlreichen kleinen und großen Besucher*innen vorgestellt. In unseren Institutsräumen präsentierten wir verschiedene Systeme und Roboter, die in Forschung und Lehre bei uns zum Einsatz kommen. Darüber hinaus beteiligten wir uns an der Wissensrallye sowie am „Weg der Nachhaltigkeit“ und freuten uns über spannende Gespräche mit interessierten Gästen.

A robot that helps children cross the street safely? What sounds like science fiction has become reality in Bratislava – with significant involvement from KIT. 

On September 22, 2024, the workshop takes place in conjunction with the 16th International Conference on Automotive User Interfaces. This workshop deals with the rise of micromobility services and Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) as a potential solution to problems like regulations, standardization and road safety.

Die ISE Grupper ist einer der Organisatoren der International Semantic Web Research Summer School (ISWS) 2024.

Die Proceedings der diesjährigen International Joint Conference on Electronic Voting (E-Vote-ID 2026) sind online verfügbar. Insgesamt wurden 10 von 35 Beiträge, die auf der aktuell stattfindenden E-Vote-ID 2026 in Tallinn vorgestellt werden, in dem Konferenzband veröffentlicht. Darunter ist auch das Paper "`In My Opinion, the Auditing Steps are Sufficient´ Trust in Elections, Software, and RLAs" von Christian Mack, Tobias Hilt und Melanie Volkamer. Aktuelle Infos und Fotos zu E-Vote-ID 2026 finden sich auch auf unseren Social Media Kanälen.

Auf Grundlage aktueller Forschungsergebnisse hat SECUSO eine Schritt-für-Schritt-Anleitung für die bevorstehende GI-Präsidiumswahl 2026 entwickelt. Sie führt Wählende durch die Stimmabgabe und die anschließende Überprüfung ihrer Stimme. Die Wirksamkeit einer früheren Version der Anleitung wurde in einer umfangreichen Nutzerstudie untersucht. Die Ergebnisse wurden bei CHI 2026 veröffentlicht. Wählende können sich die Anleitung bereits vor der Wahl in Ruhe ansehen.

[October 1st, 2026] - We are pleased to share our latest publication in the Journal of Manufacturing Systems: “Simulation-Based Multi-Objective Decision Support for Comprehensive Digital Twins of Smart Manufacturing Systems”

The paper is a collaborative work by our Ph.D. student Atieh Khodadadi, Prof. Dr. Sanja Lazarova-Molnar, and Prof. Xueping Li from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

The work advances our research on Comprehensive Digital Twins for smart manufacturing, focusing on simulation-based multi-objective decision support to support the analysis and improvement of manufacturing systems across multiple performance objectives.

This publication contributes to SYDSEN’s ongoing research on data-driven modeling and simulation, Digital Twins, and decision support for more efficient and sustainable manufacturing systems.

Khodadadi, Michelle Jungmann, Mohamed Ramadane, Meryem Mahmoud, and Ohad Daniel, together with our Master’s student Oskar Fels, and Prof. Sanja Lazarova-Molnar, participated in EUROSIM 2026, held September 21–23 in Genoa, Italy. During the conference, they presented and discussed their latest research in modelling and simulation.  

We are especially proud to congratulate Mohamed Ramadane and his co-authors, whose paper received the Best Paper Award at EUROSIM 2026, a wonderful recognition of their research and contribution to the field. 

EUROSIM 2026, the Federation of European Simulation Societies’ Conference, brought together researchers and practitioners from the international modelling and simulation community under the theme “M&S & AI: Opportunities and Challenges for Present & Future.”
