Bei der IEEE IV 2025 in Rumänien war unsere Forschungsgruppe mit 13 akzeptierten Paper vertreten. Außerdem gewann Ahmed Abouelazm den Best Paper Award mit seinem Beitrag "TPK: Trustworthy Trajectory Prediction Integrating Prior Knowledge For Interpretability and Kinematic Feasibility".

Am 1. März 2024 empfing das KIT-Zentrum für Mobilitätssysteme sowie das Energy Lab am Campus Nord Besuch von Dr. Volker Wissing, dem Bundesminister für Digitales und Verkehr, sowie den Bundestagsabgeordneten Michael Theurer und Parsa Marvi.

A robot that helps children cross the street safely? What sounds like science fiction has become reality in Bratislava – with significant involvement from KIT. 

On September 22, 2024, the workshop takes place in conjunction with the 16th International Conference on Automotive User Interfaces. This workshop deals with the rise of micromobility services and Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) as a potential solution to problems like regulations, standardization and road safety.

Die ISE Grupper ist einer der Organisatoren der International Semantic Web Research Summer School (ISWS) 2024.

Das Jahr 2025 brachte SECUSO viel neues: Neben vier neuen Mitarbeiter:innen und zahlreichen neuen Hiwis, die in 2025 zu unserem Team gestoßen sind, haben wir auch unseren Outreach mit dem Bürger-Panel "Wir forschen Digital" erweitert. Seit dem 1. November können sich Bürger:innen aus Karlsruhe für die Teilnahme an Studien registrieren. Zwei große Events haben den größten Teil des Jahres bestimmt: Bis Mai haben wir als Koordinator der Forschungsgruppe Human and Societal Factors die Evaluation des Topics Engineering Secure Sytems (ESS) vorbereitet. Im Oktober haben wir die International Conference on Electronic Voting (E-Vote-ID) mit organisiert und anschließend stand das Dagstuhl Seminar zu "Trustworthy Evidence-Based Elections" an. Auch im Bereich Forschung und Lehre waren wir dieses Jahr aktiv: Insgesamt 24 wissenschaftliche Veröffentlichungen, insbesondere zu den Themen Security Notifications und Phishing sind dieses Jahr erschienen und wir haben insgesamt neun Abschlussarbeiten zu unterschiedlichen Themen betreut. Das Paper "The whos, whats, and whys of issues related to personal data and data protection in open-source projects on GitHub" von Anne Hennig, Lukas Schulte, Steffen Herbold, Oksana Kulyk und Peter Mayer wurde als Journal-first Paper zur Präsentation auf der 48. International Conference on Software Engineering akzeptiert. In dem Paper wurden 652 Issues von Open Source Projekten auf GitHub daraufhin untersucht, wie, von wem und aus welchem Anlass Datenschutz-Themen reported und diskutiert werden. Obwohl ein deutlicher Anstieg an Issues zu verzeichnen ist, nachdem die GDPR in Kraft trat, zeigte sich, dass unter Entwickler:innen Datenschutz auch über Compliance-Themen hinaus diskutiert wird. ICSE 2026 findet vom 12. bis 18. April 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, Brasilien statt.

[December 7-10, 2025] -  Last week, the SYDSEN research group had a strong presence at the 2025 Winter Simulation Conference (WSC 2025), held in Seattle, USA. WSC is the leading international conference in computer simulation, bringing together researchers and practitioners working on modeling, Digital Twins, decision support, and data-driven simulation.

At WSC 2025, SYDSEN contributed seven peer-reviewed papers addressing key challenges in research on Digital Twins. In addition, SYDSEN delivered a invited tutorial on data-driven Petri net model extraction and simulation for Digital Twins in smart manufacturing, providing practical methodologies for developing Digital Twins model extraction approaches.

[December 2-5, 2025] - We’re pleased to share that our PhD students, Ohad Daniel and Johannes Deufel, presented their work at the Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS 2025) conference. IOTSMS 2025 took place in early December in Lyon, France, and gave us the opportunity to present our work and engage with the community on challenges and innovations around human-in-the-loop methods and automated decision support for Digital Twins. Ohad presented his research, “Automation of Decision Support in Simulation-Based Digital Twins in Manufacturing: A Survey,” and Johannes presented “Exploring Human-in-the-Loop Integration in the Operation of Digital Twin Applications.”
