Rudi Studer ist Professor am Institut für Angewandte Informatik und Formale Beschreibungsverfahren (AIFB) am KIT. Seine Forschungsinteressen umfassen Wissensmanagement, Semantic Web Technologien und Anwendungen, Ontologiemanagement, Data and Text Mining, Service Science und Semantic Grid. Er ist stellvertretender Sprecher des Kompetenzfeldes Organisations- und Dienstleistungsgestaltung am KIT.

Rudi Studer war bis 2017 Professor am Institut für Angewandte Informatik und Formale Beschreibungsverfahren (AIFB) am KIT. Er war zudem Direktor am Karlsruhe Service Research Institut (KSRI) und am FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik. Seine Forschungsinteressen umfassen Wissensmanagement, Semantic Web Technologien und Anwendungen, Data and Text Mining, Big Data und Service Science.
  
Sein Informatik-Diplom erhielt er 1975 an der Universität Stuttgart. 1982 promovierte und 1985 habilitierte er an der Universität in Stuttgart. 1985 bis 1989 war er Projektleiter und Manager am wissenschaftlichen Zentrum von IBM Deutschland.

Rudi Studer is Full Professor in Applied Informatics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Institute AIFB. His research interests include knowledge management, Semantic Web technologies and applications, ontology management, data and text mining, Service Science and Semantic Grid. He is vice speaker of the Competence field “Organization and Service Engineering” at KIT.

In addition, he was director at the Karlsruhe Service Research Institute (KSRI) as well as at the FZI Research Center for Information Technology. He obtained a Diploma in Computer Science at the University of Stuttgart in 1975. In 1982 he was awarded a Doctor's degree in Mathematics and Informatics at the University of Stuttgart, and in 1985 he obtained his Habilitation in Informatics at the University of Stuttgart. From 1985 to 1989 he was project leader and manager at the Scientific Center of IBM Germany.
 
 
Rudi Studer is also member of the executive board of the FZI Research Center for Information Technology and director in the research department Information Process Engineering (IPE) at FZI. He is co-founder of the spin-off company ontoprise GmbH that develops semantic applications. In addition, he is one of the directors of the Karlsruhe Service Research Institute (KSRI) at KIT.
