Rudi Studer is Full Professor in Applied Informatics at the University of Karlsruhe, Institute AIFB. In addition, he is director of the Karlsruhe Service Research Institute (KSRI). His research interests include knowledge management, Semantic Web technologies and applications, ontology management, data and text mining, Service Science and Semantic Grid.

He obtained a Diploma in Computer Science at the University of Stuttgart in 1975. In 1982 he was awarded a Doctor's degree in Mathematics and Informatics at the University of Stuttgart, and in 1985 he obtained his Habilitation in Informatics at the University of Stuttgart.From 1985 to 1989 he was project leader and manager at the Scientific Center of IBM Germany.

Rudi Studer is also director in the research department Information Process Engineering at the FZI Research Center for Information Technologies at the University of Karlsruhe and member of the executive board of the FZI Research Center as well as co-founder of the spin-off company ontoprise GmbH that develops semantic applications.

He is past president of the Semantic Web Science Association and former Editor-in-chief of the ''Journal Web Semantics: Science, Services, and Agents on the World Wide Web''. He is one of the vice presidents of the ''Semantic Technology Institute International (STI2)''.

Curriculum Vitae

Rudi Studer ist Professor am Institut für Angewandte Informatik und Formale Beschreibungsverfahren (AIFB), und Direktor am Karlsruhe Service Research Institute (KSRI) am KIT. Er ist im Vorstand des FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik in Karlsruhe, und Gründungsgesellschafter der ontoprise GmbH. Seine Forschungsinteressen umfassen Wissensmanagement, Semantic Web Technologien und Anwendungen, Ontologiemanagement, Data and Text Mining, Semanti Web Services, Service Science und Semantic Grid.

Sein Informatik-Diplom erhielt er 1975 an der Universität Stuttgart. 1982 promovierte und 1985 habilitierte er an der Universität in Stuttgart. 1985 bis 1989 war er Projektleiter und Manager am Wissenschaftszentrum von IBM Deutschland.

Er ist an zahlreichen nationalen und internationalen Projekten beteiligt, unter anderem im DFG Graduiertenkolleg Information Management and Market Engineering (IME), den EU Integrierten Projekten NeOn, Active und X-Media und dem THESEUS Forschungsprogamm des Bundesministeriums für Wirtschaft und Technologie.

Rudi Studer war Gründungspräsident der Semantic Web Science Association und früherer Editor-in-chief des Journal of Web Semantics: Science, Services, and Agents on the World Wide Web. Er ist einer der Vize-Präsidenten des Semantic Technology Institute International (STI2).
