The research group SECUSO belongs to the Institute of Applied Informatics and Formal Description Methods (AIFB) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The group was founded in 2011 by Prof. Dr. Melanie Volkamer at the Technische Universität Darmstadt and moved in 2018 to KIT. SECUSO is a member of KASTEL.
We do research on security and privacy. Our focus is on human factors. We use the so-called 'human centered security and privacy by design' approach. We research on methods for the development and evaluation of
- User-friendly security and privacy protection measures as well as
- Awareness, education and training measures especially for companies.
Corresponding measures are developed. In addition, the research group conducts research on various security questions relating to electronic voting (e-voting).
Our research group is very interdisciplinary in order to be successful. Among others, the group comprises scientists in computer science, mathematics, and psychology.
Our research results are published in papers and artictles. The measures developed in the course of our research can be downloaded free of charge from our website.
