Access to the building

Please note that our building is not open to the public. A telephone module is installed at the entrance, which you can use to register (telephone key + five-digit extension of the desired contact). The telephone numbers of our secretariats are displayed at the entrance.

Arrival by train

• from Frankfurt Hbf or Frankfurt Airport: at least hourly with ICE to Karlsruhe Hbf (partly with change in Mannheim Hbf)
• from Stuttgart Hbf: approximately every half hour with ICE/IC/RE to Karlsruhe-Durlach or Karlsruhe Hbf

The KIT Campus South can be reached from the central station with the following tram lines:

• Line 2 (direction Wolfartsweier) to Kronenplatz (U)
• Line 3 (direction Rintheim) to Kronenplatz (in Fritz-Erler-Straße)
• Line S4 (direction Bretten / Eppingen) to Kronenplatz stop (U)
• Line S7 (direction Tullastraße) to Kronenplatz (U)
• Line S8 (direction Tullastraße) to Kronenplatz (U)

Please use the rear exit of the subway station to reach our building. It is located on the corner of Kaiserstraße/Fritz-Erler-Straße.

Arrival by car

Parking in the institute building

There is a public underground parking garage "Parkgarage Kaiserstraße (KIT Karlsruhe)" directly in the building of the institute. Access is via Fritz-Erler-Straße. More detailed information can be found on the operator's website.
Unfortunately, direct access from the underground parking garage to the upper floors is not possible. Please leave the underground parking garage via one of the exits and go outside the building to the main entrance (Kaiserstraße 89, building 05.20).

Parking on the KIT Campus South

Starting October 1, 2026, there will be a fee for using parking spaces throughout the entire KIT Campus South. The visitor registration process that was previously in place will no longer be required. For more information, please visit the operator’s website.
