Recognition agreement
For study projects abroad, it is advisable (for ERASMUS it is mandatory) to clarify in advance whether the intended study and examination achievements can be recognized. (For semesters abroad as part of the ERASMUS program, for example, a "Learning Agreement" is required, which is available as a form from the relevant offices). This gives you the certainty that your work abroad will be recognized upon your return. The examiner will decide on the eligibility for recognition on the basis of the content and scope of the planned coursework and will record the decision on probable recognition with proof of the required coursework under reserve. Final recognition (with determination of the grade) is only granted after completion of the stay abroad. There is no entitlement to recognition on the part of the student, even if prospective recognition has already been granted.
In some cases, prospective recognition is also required by the foreign university. Special forms are usually provided for this purpose. In all other cases, this online form should be used for provisional recognition at the Institute AIFB.
Final recognition
- for stays abroad: Within the first semester of study after returning from abroad, the student contacts the responsible staff member or examiner according to the table (see below). After this deadline, no further applications for recognition can be accepted.
- in the case of a stay abroad or a change of degree program:
- The responsible member of staff or examiner requires the following documents from the student:
- a transcript of records for the coursework completed (original + copy for the examiner | digitally signed PDF | digitally signed email from the other university | other verifiably unchanged document)
- proof of the grading scale used at the other university (if not included in the transcript of records) and
- a printed application for recognition, which must be completed online and in full in advance (except for the statement of the examiner and examination board).
- if available, a copy of the recognition agreement
- If something has changed in the course content during the stay abroad, the student is obliged to submit a detailed description of the current course content.
- The responsible member of staff/professor determines the grade and submits the recognition form to the examiner for comment or makes his/her own comments.
- The application for recognition is forwarded to the Examinations Office of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics regardless of the outcome of the statement. The application for provisional recognition remains at the Institute AIFB.
- The responsible member of staff or examiner requires the following documents from the student:
Special regulations at the Institute AIFB
- Recognition as seminar work: No seminar work (3 CP) is recognized for the seminar module at the Institute AIFB.
- Recognition in the compulsory Bachelor's module "Applied Informatics": In this module, recognition is only possible as a curricular achievement. Recognition in the original title or as a special lecture is not supported. Please note the department's information on the different types of recognition.
- Recognition in the original title or as a special lecture: Recognition as a so-called "special lecture" is only possible if the title of the recognized course is not in English or French. For common languages, recognition in the original title is preferred.
If you have any further questions, please contact the responsible member of staff/professor of the respective chair.
ATTENTION: The staff members and professors listed here are only responsible for checking the content of foreign courses with regard to possible recognition for AIFB examination credits. If you have any questions that are not of a content-related nature but concern the respective examination regulations, please contact Mr. Hilser (Examinations Office of the Department).
Responsibilities at the Institute AIFB
